
A good CAD designer shows in a few concrete things.
Software first. SolidWorks, AutoCAD: check they use the tools of your trade, so the files match yours.
Experience next. Ask for examples close to your project and drawings already produced. A portfolio tells you more than a CV.
Communication last. A designer who understands your need, asks the right questions and stays reachable saves you pointless back-and-forth.
Price matters, but do not pick the cheapest by default: a loose drawing gets paid for in workshop rework. Look at value for money and what the work includes (revisions, advice, manuals).
